**محمد رسول‌الله (The Message)** یکی از ماندگارترین آثار سینمای تاریخی و مذهبی است که به کارگردانی **مصطفی عقاد** در سال ۱۹۷۶ ساخته شد. این فیلم با نگاهی حماسی به ظهور اسلام و سال‌های نخستین دعوت پیامبر اسلام (ص) می‌پردازد و وقایع مهمی از تاریخ صدر اسلام را به تصویر می‌کشد. داستان فیلم از دوران پیش از گسترش اسلام آغاز می‌شود و شکل‌گیری دعوت اسلامی، مقاومت مشرکان مکه، رنج و فشار بر مسلمانان نخستین، هجرت به مدینه و شکل‌گیری جامعه اسلامی را دنبال می‌کند. فیلم همچنین به رویدادهای مهمی مانند نبرد بدر و برخی دیگر از وقایع سرنوشت‌ساز سال‌های نخست اسلام می‌پردازد. یکی از ویژگی‌های مهم **محمد رسول‌الله** این است که پیامبر اسلام (ص) در فیلم به‌صورت مستقیم به تصویر کشیده نمی‌شود و روایت داستان از نگاه شخصیت‌های پیرامونی و تاریخی شکل می‌گیرد. این شیوه، در کنار موسیقی ماندگار **موریس ژار**، فضای معنوی و حماسی ویژه‌ای به فیلم بخشیده است. مصطفی عقاد این پروژه را در دو نسخه مستقل **انگلیسی و عربی** تولید کرد. هر دو نسخه تقریباً هم‌زمان و با گروه‌های بازیگری متفاوت فیلم‌برداری شدند؛ نسخه انگلیسی با حضور **آنتونی کویین** در نقش حمزه و نسخه عربی با حضور **عبدالله غیث** در نقش حمزه ساخته شد. **محمد رسول‌الله** به دلیل روایت تاریخی، بازی‌های قدرتمند، موسیقی تأثیرگذار و تلاش برای ارائه تصویری حماسی از سال‌های آغازین اسلام، همچنان یکی از شناخته‌شده‌ترین فیلم‌های تاریخی درباره تاریخ اسلام به شمار می‌رود. فیلم در سال ۱۹۷۷ برای جایزه اسکار بهترین موسیقی متن نامزد شد و موسیقی آن توسط موریس ژار ساخته شده است.
